The TJX Companies, Inc.  disclosed that sales for the four-week period ended Feb. 26, 2011, were $1.5 billion, up 3% over the $1.4 billion achieved during the four-week period ended Feb. 27, 2010. Consolidated comparable store sales for the four-week period ended Feb. 26, 2011 increased 3% over a 10% increase in the same period last year.


“We saw a continuation of strong year-over-year sales gains in the month of February,” said Carol Meyrowitz, CEO of The TJX Companies, Inc. “On a consolidated basis and at The Marmaxx Group, comparable store sales increased 3%, both on top of double-digit increases last year. Further, we continue to see increases in customer traffic, signaling to us that great value remains a top priority for consumers. We’re pleased to be off to a good start in the new year, well positioned to capitalize on the great fashions and brands that we see in the marketplace.”
