U.S titanium bike brand Lynskey Performance Products filed for bankruptcy protection with a plan to restructure its debts and stabilize the business under court supervision.
According to documents filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, Lynskey, based in Chattanooga, TN, attributed its challenges to higher manufacturing costs and operating expenses, reduced cash flow and fulfilment issues. The filing noted that the cost of raw titanium has surged by 40 percent since 2021. The filing also cited “egregious Shopify chargebacks” and cash flow issues following its shift to a direct-to-consumer e-commerce model.
The filing stated“With reduced cashflow, the Debtor began falling behind on order fulfillment as it was unable to purchase components for same. Furthermore, supplier invoices began and accumulating and Shopify instituted arbitrary reserve deposits and egregious chargebacks for delayed orders, to the tune of at least approximately $550,000.00 within the 90 days prior to the filing of the Debtors Bankruptcy Petition.”The declining health of co-founder David Lynskey, who passed away in June 2025, also contributed to a decrease in business performance.
Liabilities were estimated between $1 million and $10 million while assets were listed between $0 to $50,000. More than 200 unsecured creditors are listed in the case, including major cycling component companies such as FSA (Full Speed Ahead), owed $162,000; SRAM, $108,000; and Cane Creek Cycling Components, $12,600. Shipping companies and a credit card company also landed on the unsecured creditors list
Lynskey held roughly $59,000 in cash on hand as of the petition date on April 30 and employed 31 full-time workers.
The Lynskey family has been synonymous with American titanium frame building since launching Litespeed Cycles in 1984. The family sold Litespeed in 1999 to American Bicycle Group (ABG). Lynskey Performance Products was founded by brothers David and Tim Lynskey in 2006.
