Timberland, owned by VF Corp., opened a store at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, NJ, as the brand ramps up store openings this year.

VF reportedly plans to open 20 full-price and outlet stores this year, including those that opened so far at South Shore Plaza in Braintree, MA, and Houston Premium Outlets. Three more stores are planned to open in Texas later this year in Grapevine Mills, Galleria Dallas and Allen Premium Outlets.

According to VF Corp.’s 10K Filing, Timberland operated 147 owned stores worldwide in its latest fiscal year ended March 28.

On VF’s fiscal fourth-quarter analyst call, Bracken Darrell, president and CEO, reported that Timberland’s sales “grew 2 percent in the quarter, in line with expectations, as 8 percent growth in DTC (direct-to-consumer) offset a slight decline at wholesale.”

Darrell said the Timberland brand is expanding its distribution footprint with 11 full-price stores now open and operating in the U.S.

“The outsized productivity shown by our new stores is early proof points of our new operating model working as planned. We have exciting plans for Timberland in the coming seasons as we continue to set the stage for long-term profitable growth ahead. This brand can become much larger over time, and I’m confident we’re taking the right strategic steps to ensure that happens,” said Darrell.
