The Timberland Co. has admitted that “structural” changes have resulted in the layoff of an unspecified number of employees at its Stratham, NH facility. The layoffs come less than a year after the company was sold for $2.2 billion to VF Corp.

Speaking to seacoastonline.com, Robin Giampa, director of corporate communications for Timberland, confirmed that employees at the Stratham facility were let go. Some employees moved to different jobs in Stratham and others took jobs at other locations within the company.

“When you make changes to an organization, it sometimes includes hard choices about people,” Giampa said. She didn't detail the number of layoffs but added, “it's a very small percentage of Timberland's worldwide employee base.”
