Timberland announced the appointment of Mariano Alonso to VP, sales, Timberland EMEA. Alonso will report into Timo Schmidt-Eisenhart, president Timberland EMEA.

In this role, Alonso will develop and execute sales strategies to drive the business across all EMEA Wholesale & Distributors markets to achieve the aggressive 17×17 plan communicated by the holding company VF Corporation back in June 2013.

Alonso joins from Camper where he held the role of General Manager for the Northern, Central, Eastern European and Asia Regions.  Prior to Camper, he worked for Nike between 1998 – 2007 in various category and regional sales roles, with his final role for being Sales Director Northern Europe.

Alonso says of the move: “There is a great vibe around Timberland today. It is a strong and inspiring brand and the opportunity to participate in its future growth is the perfect challenge for me.”

Alonso brings with him a wealth of sales strategy experience, a deep understanding of the Go To Market process and an ability to drive sales across both wholesale and distributor channels and markets.

When commenting on the new appointment, President Timo Schmidt Eisenhart said: “He is customer focused and has experience fueling brand-enhancing sales growth. Two key characteristics we are looking for at Timberland as we step up the business.”

Timberland is a wholly owned subsidiary of VF Corp.
