The SportsOneSource Group is again expanding its team as it positions itself for the future.  SportsOneSource has absorbed into Charlotte, NC all media operations and production that had been housed in New York before SOS acquired the media business, which includes the SGB, Outdoor Business, Sporting Goods Dealer and Hunting Business titles, from Nielsen Business Media. SOS has also moved to a new office in midtown Manhattan that is more central to the needs of the regional sales and editorial teams.

“We spent much of last year developing our core team from which to build this business and have recently started to build on that foundation,” said James Hartford, president and CEO of SportsOneSource.  “We have made the strategic decision to expand our presence in Charlotte and have started to add key staff positions to support our rapid growth.”

Charlie Lunan has joined SportsOneSource as Business Editor, with primary responsibility for the outdoor and snow sports markets.  Lunan will focus on The B.O.S.S. Report and its affiliated website and e-mail updates and will also contribute to the company’s magazines, primarily Outdoor Business and SGB.  Charlie joins SportsOneSource with more than 15 years of financial journalism experience.  He has served as managing editor for a number of print and online publications and worked as an editor or writer for the Freedom, Tribune and Knight-Ridder newspaper chains in Texas, Florida and North Carolina.

Amy Ward has been added as the company’s new Accounting Manager.  She is handling all accounting functions, including A/P, A/R, payroll and tax.

Jill Underwood has been appointed Retail Relationship Manager, focused on servicing, supporting and training the company’s retail reporting partners.  Jill comes to SOS from K2, Inc. where she was Retail Operations Manager and functioned as a key conduit between the K2 Outdoor brands and their retail partners.  Prior to K2, Inc., Jill held positions with Warnaco and Belk.

John O'Sullivan has been appointed Director of Marketing and Sales Operations.  He and his team are responsible for the development and execution of all corporate branding and messaging, including marketing, PR, advertising and creative.  John comes to SOS with a 15-year background in product and marketing in the sporting goods industry, with stints at adidas and Reebok.

“We felt it essential to move all back-office functions into a central location,” said Hartford.  “Our new building, located on the new light rail line in the rapidly expanding historic South End section of Charlotte, provides our employees a more urban atmosphere where they can work, live and play, but also offers a unique mix of attributes that makes it a great place to work for both our creative teams and our business teams.”

All administration, editorial, finance, marketing, market research, production and planning functions are now based in Charlotte, along with all sales operations, client services and consulting services.  The New York office houses regional sales and editorial functions.  The West Palm Beach office is home to IT and database operations and has been enhanced to better support the expansion of the SportScanINFO business.
