The Buckle reported March comps improved 7.2% on net sales that increased 12.4% to $86.9 million for the five-week fiscal month from $77.3 million in the year-ago month.

 

Mens sales, which represented 38.5% of total sales, were up about 7% on strength from denim, woven shirts, outerwear and footwear, similar to categories that boosted womens sales. 

 

Revenues from the womens side, which represented 61.5% of total sales, were up approximately 13.5%.  Price points on the mens side were up 3%, while womens experienced a 9% gain.

 

More specifically, combined footwear categories for men and women showed a 24.5% increase from the year-ago period while in similar fashion, combined accessories saw a positive 2.5% comp.  Sales from these segments accounted for approximately 5.5% and 6.0% of the companys total net sales, respectively.
