The Buckle, Inc. has promoted Scott Werth as senior vice president of stores. The casual apparel chain also reported that same-store sales grew 7.0 percent in March.

Werth has been employed by the Buckle since June 1989, serving in several roles of increasing responsibility and leadership over his nearly 37-year career with the company, including, most recently, as vice president of sales and strategy. In his new role, Werth will lead the retailer’s sales team, representing more than 7,000 employees across 42 states.

Buckle’s comparable store sales for the 5-week period ended April 4 increased 7.0 percent year-over-year. Net sales advanced 8.2 percent to $118.0 million from $109.1 million for the prior year.

Comparable store sales for the 9-week year-to-date period climbed 7.4 percent, while sales gained 8.5 percent to $202.5 million from $186.6 million a year ago.

Headquartered in Kearney, NE, Buckle operates 441 retail stores in 42 states nationwide.
