Teva, a division of Deckers Brands, has partnered with National Forest, a design firm and creative consultancy founded by artists and designers Steven Harrington and Justin Krietemeyer, on two new webbing designs for its Originals collection.
National Forest brings their trademark bright, iconic and contemporary Californian aesthetic to these two new styles for men and women. As part of the Teva Artist Series, the exclusive National Forest collection will be available starting June 15 for $60 at Teva.com.
Launched in spring 2015, the Artist Series blends well-crafted sandals with imaginative design to honor the artists who bring Teva footwear to life, creating wearable works of art. As the second collection in the series, National Forest reimagines the classic silhouette of the Original Universal sandal with limited edition webbing and marbled details, creating sandals that are true conversation pieces. With its own unique personality, the National Forest collection features a modern and fresh interpretation of the iconic Original.
“Partnering with Teva was an exciting opportunity to design something National Forest never had the experience of creating before. Art is about discovery; the webbing design process was intriguing because it inspired a new avenue of personal discovery. This series is about stepping outside to engage socially and create shared experiences,” says Steven Harrington, co-founder of National Forest.
Designed to encourage a conversation between the wearer and the viewer, the National Forest collection exemplifies individuality, creativity and the expression of freedom valued by Teva.
“Working with artists to evolve the iconic silhouette of the Original is part of our heritage. National Forest's designs are playful yet feature a timeless quality for seamlessly elevated webbing patterns that are as iconic as the Original silhouette and unveil the true art behind the craft,” explains Lorie Pointer, director of product design at Teva.
In support of the launch, Teva and National Forest created a video that explores the collection's unique identity and offers a behind the scenes look at the LA-based studio. The collaborative video joins the collection of Artist Series films available on Teva.com.
