The National Congress of State Games (NCSG) announced plans for its annual meeting, which will be co-located with the TEAMS ’16 Conference & Expo. The gathering for the sports-event industry will be held in Atlantic City, Sept. 26–29.

The NCSG’s agenda includes final bid presentations and the selection of the host for the 2019 State Games of America. Bidders vying to host the event are Ames, Iowa; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. The State Games of America is a biennial multisport event that features 15,000 athletes competing in more than 50 sports.

“The TEAMS Conference & Expo will be a valuable learning opportunity for the members of the National Congress of States Games,” said Dan Duffy, president, NCSG. “We look forward to working with TEAMS to help increase the awareness of State Games.”

The NCSG Symposium will begin September 25 with a board meeting, committee meetings, regional meetings and an update on the 2017 State Games of America, which will be staged in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In addition to selecting its 2019 host city, NCSG’s agenda includes recognition of its Athletes of the Year, which will occur as part of the SportsTravel Awards Gala on the evening of September 27. On September 28, the NCSG will also host a round table exclusively for State Games organizers from around the nation to network with event rights holders who may wish to have their sports added to State Games programs. State Games organizers will also meet with exhibitors from their respective states during the TEAMS Expo, September 27–29.

“We are excited to welcome the NCSG Symposium to TEAMS ’16,” said Timothy Schneider, publisher of SportsTravel, which organizes the TEAMS Conference & Expo. “We are proud to partner with the National Congress of State Games and intend to help advance the State Games movement by working to integrate the NCSG’s agenda into the TEAMS Conference agenda.”
