Target promoted Gena Fox to SVP of design; Tara Russell to SVP of merchandising, apparel and accessories; and Sarah McMullin to SVP of owned brands product operations and manufacturing.
All three SVPs report to Cara Sylvester, who was named Target’s new chief merchandising officer in February. She was formerly EVP, chief guest experience officer.
Fox, who has been with Target since 2000, was formerly SVP apparel & accessories
Fox said in a LinkedIn post, “Over the past few years in Apparel & Accessories, I’ve had the chance to work closely with our Design team—and see firsthand what happens when thoughtful design really connects across the business.
“We truly have a best-in-class team, full of incredibly talented creatives who continue to raise the bar and push what great design can look like at scale. It’s been inspiring to be part of that, and I’m excited to support and build alongside them in this next chapter.”
“Target has always been about something special: great design that’s accessible to all. I’m excited to keep building on that while continuing to evolve how we show up in culture and bring our guests the trends they love.”
“During my time at the bullseye, I’ve been lucky to help shape and grow a number of our owned brands and collaborations—all rooted in style, relevance, and value. That foundation will definitely carry into what’s next.
In this role, I’m focused on strengthening a clear, cohesive design point of view across merchandising, brand, and marketing—so everything we create feels connected, intentional, and distinctly Target.”
Russell, who takes over Fox’s role, was formerly VP, guest experience strategy & ops and has been with Target since 2012. Russell wrote on LinkedIn, “Target has always stood for something special – bringing great style and design to guests in a way that feels inspiring, relevant, and accessible. I’m excited to continue building on that foundation while helping shape what’s next for our Apparel & Accessories business. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to help grow brands, categories, and experiences rooted in style, value and deep guest connection. That perspective will continue to guide the work ahead.”
In the role of SVP of owned brands product operations and manufacturing, McMullin adds to her past responsibilities as, SVP, owned brands product operations. She joined Target in July 2019 as VP, OBS&D apparel & fabric sourcing and formerly worked at Nike for 24 years. Her last role at Nike was VP, product creation, Nike Apparel & Equipment.
