Tactical Holdings, a global provider of military and tactical footwear, and its equity partner, Golden Gate Capital, a San Francisco-based private equity firm with over $8 billion of capital under management, announced today that they completed an investment in Massif Holdings LLC, a supplier of flame resistant (FR) technical apparel in the United States.

Massif's specialized product offering includes the Army Combat Shirt, flame resistant soft shell apparel, extreme weather layering systems, as well as an array of flame resistant apparel accessories.

For Tactical Holdings, the investment in Massif represents another in a series of recent developments that began in May 2007 with Golden Gate Capital's going-private acquisition of Wellco Enterprises, and continued with Tactical Holdings' acquisition of Altama Delta Corporation in December 2008.

Lee Ferguson, Chief Executive Officer of Tactical Holdings, Inc., said, “We are pleased to welcome Massif to the Tactical Holdings family. Over nearly a decade, Massif has demonstrated impressive innovation and technical performance, while serving as one of the true pioneers in the FR military apparel industry. We are enthusiastic about working closely with Massif's talented employees to continue serving the company's exceptional customer base.”

Ken Diekroeger, a Managing Director of Golden Gate Capital, added, “Massif is a marquee brand supported by a consistent history of high-quality service and operations. This is an important investment for Tactical Holdings, and Golden Gate Capital looks forward to partnering with Massif to build a strategically significant player in the tactical apparel and accessories industry.”

“Massif is very excited about the possibilities afforded to us through the alliance with Golden Gate Capital and Tactical Holdings,” said Jeff Roberts, Massif Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “This relationship will help us accelerate our growth initiatives, while also maintaining the technical and product leadership that has defined our organization.”
