Florida based adventure racing club, WeCeFAR (West Central Florida Adventure Racing) has announced a partnership with Suunto USA as a “sustaining” sponsor of its 2005 adventure racing and ultra endurance events.

According to club founder and Sponsorship Director Shawn Dietrich, “WeCeFAR is moving in the right direction with its partnership with Suunto. We recognize the leader in navigation and training equipment, which is why we use their products in our training and adventure racing.”

Suunto is the leading manufacturer of sports instruments for a variety of sports, including adventure racing, golf, training, skiing, hiking, diving and sailing. The company’s focus is on sports activities where advanced measurement technology, data processing and specific algorithms can generate significant performance benefits for active participants. Suunto, headquartered in Vantaa, Finland, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Helsinki-based Amer Group.

In 2005, Suunto will provide WeCeFAR with a variety of compasses, apparel and Wrist Computers as prizes for the club’s 2005 adventure races and ultra-marathons. In the February 19-20 Swamp Stomp 24-Hour Adventure Race, winners of the orienteering section will win a special Suunto Prize Package. In addition, Suunto is assisting WeCeFAR’s educational mission by providing materials for navigation clinics and adventure racing camps.

“Suunto was a great partner in 2004, providing prizes for some of our races. We are excited to expand our relationship and have them on board as a sustaining sponsor for the 2005 races and clinics,” added Dietrich.
