Surf Technicians LLC (Surftech) announced Friday May 15 that its parent company Triple D Corporation of Thailand has made a conditional offer to acquire full control of Global Surf Industries (GSI), which manufactures and distributes many well-known brands in the Surf and SUP industry including Tom Carroll SUP, 7S, Hayden Shapes, Modern, Walden and Meyerhoffer Surfboards internationally.

The announcement followed board maker NSP's announcement May 14 that Triple D affiliates would be taking over distribution of its surf and SUP products from GCI in the United States (excluding Hawaii), Australia and New Zealand on July 14.

“This change is in the best interest of NSP and its customers,” said Chris Chamberlain, NSP Global Brand Manager in a statement on NSP's website. “I’d like to thank the GSI team for the years of hard work and dedication they have put into NSP.  With the success of NSP and its continued growth the time has come where NSP and GSI have outgrown each other.”

NSP foresees no disruption to supply of product to retailers during the changeover. Surftech will present the company's 2016 models at Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City in August.  Triple D has already established a new subsidiary – Aroona Pty Ltd., to distribute NSP products in Australia.

Triple D affiliate Continental Link Composite Pte Ltd of Singapore manages NSP, Surfers Ink and Sunset Surfboards, along with the brands of other action-sports companies globally.
