Based in Sellersville, PA and founded in 1949, American Safety Clothing (ASC) makes suits, hoods, coveralls, tops, bottoms, gloves as well as other technical safety apparel products largely under its ASC brand name. The products protect workers from fire and heat as well as from sharp edges and metal burrs.
Co-headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, and Elgin, IL, SureWerx makes safety, tool and equipment products under the Jackson Safety, Sellstrom, Pioneer, PeakWorks, ADA Solutions, Armor Tile, Access Tile, Due North, K1 Series, Avenger, Nautilus, MEGAComfort, NEOS, Oberon, FALL SAFE, Reliance Fall Protection and Genesi labels. Its safety footwear brands include Avenger, Nautilus, Dickies, Neos, MEGAComfort Insoles, New Balance and Airwalk.
SureWerx said the acquisition further strengthens SureWerx’s USA-made safety apparel offering and complements its Oberon and Pioneer brands.
“Adding American Safety Clothing to our USA manufacturing footprint and their focus on technical protective apparel will help expand a critical part of our PPE offering,” said SureWerx CEO Scott Dowell. “It also extends partnerships that ASC has forged with other leading brands in North America and will enhance innovation by bringing the Oberon and ASC brands together across the critical Arc Flash, High Heat and Cut Resistant technical apparel offering.”
“For over 100 years American Safety Clothing has always been focused on delivering innovative, performance-driven products and solutions to workers who depend on us,” said Henry Thompson, majority owner of ASC. “Partnering with SureWerx, a company that shares our values and commitment to worker safety, is the right next step for our customers, our employees and our brand. Their reach into global industrial markets and deep distribution network will drive more innovation and accelerate growth of the ASC offering. I am thrilled that this partnership ensures our dedicated employees in Sellersville will continue doing what they do best, making the highest quality protective apparel in America. Kyle Phipps has led the resurgence of ASC and I could not be more confident in him and the entire team as they take ASC into this next chapter. The best is yet to come.”
