Sunice, the maker of golf and ski wear, announced that golf-industry veteran Caroline Gowan has joined the company's sales team as strategic accounts manager.

In her role, Gowan – a Greenville, S.C., native and former LPGA Tour player – will manage Sunice's relationships with all of the major Tours, including the PGA Tour, Champions Tour, LPGA Tour and Nationwide Tour.

She will serve as liaison with all internal components of the major U.S. Tours, including staffs, the extensive network of Tour sponsors and partners, all licensing efforts, and tournament and event retail. Gowan also will be responsible for the execution of strategic initiatives developed between these organizations and Sunice. Additionally, she will be responsible for all USGA and PGA of America relationships.

Gowan will report to Howie Ellis, Executive VP of Sales for Sunice.

“I am very excited about this new position, which allows me to utilize my golf-industry experience in helping Sunice grow its business,” says Gowan, who retired from the LPGA Tour in 2001 after a 17-year career. “Sunice's technical outerwear is superb, and having been a longtime Tour player gives me a unique perspective on what both players and our partners want.”

Gowan, a resident of St. Petersburg, Fla., joined Sunice as a Tour rep in October, 2009. Prior to that, Gowan managed Zero Restriction's U.S. Tour business for eight years and was instrumental in the company's rise to a leadership position in technical outerwear on all major U.S. Tours.

Upon graduating from the University of Georgia in 1984, Gowan became the 1985 LPGA Tour School medalist. Throughout her LPGA Tour career, Gowan was Maxfli's Tour representative, responsible for ball/glove distribution to as many as 70 players, along with contract players from 1987 to 1997. From 1997 to 2000, she also taught in the off-season at the Ben Sutton Golf School.

“We are very fortunate to have a seasoned veteran such as Caroline Gowan joining our sales team in a position that's vital to our growth as a company,” says Mark Fletcher, President of Sunice. “She is well respected throughout the business, and on every major U.S. Tour. Her presence strengthens the Sunice brand even further.”

Gowan joins a Sunice sales team that includes 27 veteran golf sales reps hired in Fall 2009. Sunice is owned by The Fletcher Leisure Group of Canada.
