Baltimore-based STX, LLC announced the signing of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) player Ryan Young for the 2014 season.

As part of his role with STX, Young will serve as an official STX-sponsored athlete and will appear in the company’s marketing and product campaigns. Young will also represent STX during in-store appearances and autograph signings. The Charlotte Hounds attackman will use the STX Surgeon line during MLL games this year.

“I am humbled and honored to join the STX family,” stated Young. “Ever since playing with STX gear in youth lacrosse, STX has always been my brand of choice. I’m looking forward to competing with STX products again in the MLL this season.”

Young had a breakout year in 2013, tallying 30 goals and 10 assists for the Charlotte Hounds. The attackman was named to the 2013 MLL All-Star game after leading the Hounds to their first-ever playoff appearance. A former University of Maryland lacrosse athlete, Young was named USILA Third team All-American and ACC All-Tournament Team in 2011.

“Young has been a leader for the relatively new Charlotte Hounds. Last season he proved himself as an essential team player, putting up more points than he had previously in his MLL career,” said Greg Tate, STX Men’s Marketing Manager. “We’re proud to have Young join the STX family and represent the Surgeon line.”

Additionally, STX recently announced signing Florida Launch’s Tucker Durkin following news that STX is an official Equipment Partner in the MLL.

STX is a maker of sports equipment for lacrosse, field hockey, ice hockey and golf. With its 1970 introduction of the first synthetic lacrosse head, STX ushered in the “modern era” of what is now the fastest growing team sport.
