Straz Components, the New England-based manufacturer of cycling tools and accessories, has acquired Hold Fast Cycling, a move that is said to “unite two brands built on craftsmanship, practical innovation and a shared passion for cycling.”
Straz Components said it began as a solution to a problem that every tubeless rider knows well: the messy process of adding tire sealant. That solution was the Straz Sealant Funnel. Since that initial innovation, the company has expanded its product line with additional workshop essentials, including valve core removers, while continuing to engineer products for cyclists and bike shops, and has built a global reach, “all while prioritizing their relationships with the independent shops that keep local cycling communities thriving.”
Hold Fast Cycling reportedly shares that same view, according to comments in a recent Straz media release announcing the deal.
Founded by a fellow New England cyclist, Hold Fast Founder Pete MacLeod said he chose Straz Components to carry his brand because of their common values and high standards.
“Tim Straz is a like-minded small business owner who shares a similar passion and enthusiasm. He has also been a loyal customer who believes in the Hold Fast product line,” MacLeod said.
Hold Fast Cycling was originally based in Brooklyn, NY, before relocating to Canton, MA, south of Boston.
Straz Components will now offer the entire Hold Fast Cycling product line, including its valve stems and tubeless tape. “Pete built Hold Fast on trust and an eye for quality. We’ve built Straz Components by creating innovative tools that solve real problems for cyclists. Bringing those two approaches together felt like a natural fit, and we’re honored to continue serving the customers and dealers who have supported Hold Fast from the beginning,” Straz shared.
