Apex Sports Group, a newly launched sports product design, development, and production company, has officially opened their doors for business.

The Boulder, Colo. company said it will premier their first product, a revolutionary carbon fiber structure ski boot, during the first quarter of this year. Apex's mission is to provide premium quality and innovative products to the sports industry, both domestically and internationally. The announcement was made by Denny Hanson, president and co-founder of Apex Sports Group.

Research, design, development, sourcing, and testing for the new ski boot have been in the works for nearly two years.

The name “Apex” was chosen due to its definition: “the highest, or culminating point.” Every product that they bring to market will be held to this high standard.

In addition to Denny, the group consists of several Boulder County-based investors and two California-based industrial design and sourcing/product development firms.  In all, the group represents over 80 years of experience with winter sports products. Denver-based creative agency, Liquid inc., has been brought on-board to assist Apex Sports Group with their ski boot launch over the next few months. The boot will be distributed and marketed in the United States, Europe, and Canada.

Founder pioneered rear-entry ski boot in 1970s

Denny Hanson is no stranger to the world of innovative products. In the 1970’s and 1980’s, he was president and co-founder of Hanson Industries Inc, inventors of the Hanson Ski Boot that launched the rear entry ski boot craze that lasted over several decades and revolutionized ski boot design.  Since that time, Hanson has spent twenty years in the medical business and has been instrumental in guiding several product development projects for client companies.

“This is a very exciting time for us,” commented Denny. “There has not been any significant innovation in ski boots over the last 15 years. Our new boot will change that.  We’ll officially announce it in another month, but look for new materials and a unique design philosophy that will set a higher standard for the fit and function of ski boots. We look forward to having the boots in the very best specialty retail shops worldwide during the 2008-2009 winter season.”
