Sportscape, one of Europe’s largest e-commerce platforms for sports and outdoor enthusiasts, announced the appointment of Andy Anson, the outgoing CEO of the British Olympic Association (BOA) and former CEO of Kitbag, as CEO. He replaces Sébastien Rohart, who had been CEO since June 2022 and was formerly CEO of PrivateSportShop.

Sportscape, which boasts a member community of over 25 million people, was formed in 2022 through the merger of BD Capital-backed SportPursuit and Bridgepoint-backed PrivateSportShop. The company operates across European markets, including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.

For the past six years, Anson has served as CEO of the British Olympic Association (BOA), also known as Team GB.  In July, he announced he was stepping down to join private equity firm BD-Capital Partners.

Prior to Team GB, Anson led Kitbag, Ltd. as CEO, where he oversaw the sale of the company to Fanatics and subsequently became president of Fanatics International. He also held the role of commercial director at Manchester United, responsible for global sponsorships and partnerships, and currently serves on the boards of football clubs Red Star FC (Paris), Hertha Berlin and the sports nutrition business Science in Sport.

Anson is tasked with accelerating Sportsscape’s growth across core markets following the merger and integration of PrivateSportShop and SportPursuit.

Said Anson, “I am thrilled to be joining Sportscape Group at such an exciting time in its journey. Sportscape has already established itself as a key player in the European sports e-commerce landscape, and I look forward to working with the team to unlock its next phase of growth.”

Andy Dawson, managing partner and co-founder of BD Capital, added, “We are delighted to welcome Andy to Sportscape Group. His deep experience in global sports commerce, coupled with a strong record of leading high-performing teams, makes him the ideal leader to take the business into its next chapter. Sportscape has strong momentum, and we are confident that under Andy’s leadership, the Group will scale and strengthen its position as the go-to partner for sports and outdoor brands in Europe.”

Jean-Baptiste Salvin, partner at Bridgepoint, said, “We are delighted to welcome Andy to Sportscape Group. His proven leadership in global sports and e-commerce makes him exceptionally well placed to guide the business through its next phase of growth. Sportscape has already established a strong position in a fast-growing market, and with Andy’s experience, we are confident the Group will accelerate its development and strengthen its role as a leading partner for sports and outdoor brands across Europe. We look forward to working alongside Andy and our partners at BD Capital to support this exciting journey.”
