Sportsman’s Warehouse plans to re-enter the Spokane market with a new store to be located at a long-dormant construction site, according to the Spokane Journal.

The company has filed an preliminary application with with the local government proposing a 36,000-square-foot store at 6720 N. Division, the newspaper reported. The application indicates the Salt Lake City retailer, which sells gear for hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation, would spend $1.7 million to build the store.

Sportsman’s Warehouse exited the Spokane market in 2008, when it sold 15 of its more than 60 stores to a Canadian pension fund in a bid to avoid bankruptcy. The retailer filed a Chapter 11 petition later that year and emerged with 29 locations. It has since expanded back to 52.
