Sportsman’s Warehouse is closing a store less than four months after opening it, a California newspaper reported Wednesday. The store in Victorville, CA opened in late June and employed 85 people, according to The Daily Press newspaper of Victorville.

The newspaper quoted the store’s manager as saying there are no plans for any store-closing sales and no plans to reopen the Victorville store in the future.

On-line bulletin boards maintained by hunting groups have reported sudden closings of Sportsman’s Warehouse stores in Arizona, Michigan and Texas since last fall. The privately-owned, Utah-based chain advertised 70 store locations on its Web site Thursday, including Victorville.

The company has scheduled grand openings for new stores in Visalia, CA and Las Vegas for early next month, according to its website.
