Sports Authority opened 11 stores in eight states on August 16 as part of an overall push to add 37 new stores around the country during 2008. The new stores, averaging 40,000 square feet, opened last Saturday included locations in Omaha, NB.; Kansas City, MO.; Hiram, GA; Gainesville, VA; Austin and Rockwall, TX; Amherst, NH; Tucson and Phoenix, AZ; and Fort Collins, CO.

“Our goal is to be aggressive in meeting the need and demand for our products and services throughout this country,” said Sports Authority president David Campisi, in a statement. “We have already established ourselves as the pre-eminent sporting goods retailer in these markets, and the growth opportunity continues to be attractive. Were excited about expanding our footprint and look forward to success in every one of these stores.”

The openings gave TSA 441 stores in 45 states.
