South Bend Sporting Goods, based in Northbrook, IL, has signed a North American-based licensing deal with Discovery Communications for a line of fishing equipment and accessories based upon the popular Animal Planet television program, “River Monsters,” hosted by international extreme angler and biologist, Jeremy Wade.

The South Bend Sporting Goods “River Monster” line-up of branded fishing rods, reels and equipment combination packages will debut at the July 2011 ICAST Fishing Tackle Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rods, reels and combos will have an MSRP range of $11.99 to $49.99. Included in the new branded selection will be complementary tackle boxes, kits, tools and lures ranging from $2.99 to $39.99 MSRP.

South Bend Sporting Goods will be promoting conservation efforts to protect and ensure sustainable levels of fish for future generations through the sale of River Monster branded products.

Animal Planet’s “River Monsters” show has completed its third season following extreme angler and biologist Jeremy Wade as he seeks out the most unusual or unheard of fresh-water monster fish in some of the world’s most extreme locations. As a biologist and conservationist, Wade promotes efforts by indigenous people to support their way of life through fishing, an effort supported by South Bend Sporting goods.

South Bend Sporting Goods, a family fishing tradition since 1906, makes rods, reels, combos, terminal tackle and fishing accessories.
