Soles4Souls has filed suit against Gleaning for the World, Inc. and other parties after Soles4Souls discovered that donated pairs of Minnetonka Moccasins that were supposed to be distributed to people in need in Africa were discovered being sold for profit. According to multiple reports, Soles4Souls discovered the shows being sold on eBay. Soles4Souls filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Nashville, TN.

This action goes directly against the distribution agreement signed by both parties on May 17, 2007, which stated “[Gleaning] agrees that it will neither offer for sale, sell, transfer, nor barter the products supplied by [Soles4Souls] in exchange for money, other negotiable instruments, or other trangible of intangible goods or services…”

The lawsuit, filed Dec. 11, 2008, states that through a string of transfers, the shoes eventually were sold for $6,500.00 to Jeanne S. Re, who then sold some of the shoes on eBay.

The suit claims this action resulted in a breach on contract, an intentional interference with business relationship with the organizations and individuals involved in the chain of transfers, and a civil conspiracy.
