SKLZ, the maker of athletic training devices, hired Jason Cromer as director, brand management and creative strategy and Walter Nolen as baseball category manager.

“As we continue to grow, we’ve sought out talent who are authentic to our core sports and can help us build our brand with our core athletes,” said SKLZ CEO John Sarkisian. “Both Jason and Walt will help us build trusted relationships with our athletes through breakthrough messaging and innovative products.”

Cromer comes to SKLZ most recently from Sony where he led fully integrated consumer campaigns for Digital Imaging and Audio categories, and developed creative strategy focusing on Gen Y consumers. Prior to Sony, Cromer led agency teams supporting brands such as CobraPUMA Golf, Miller Lite, Disney, Qualcomm and Orbitz. In his new role at SKLZ, Cromer will drive integrated marketing communications across all consumer touch points.

“It’s very exciting combining my two greatest passions, sports and marketing. I’m thrilled to be part of this team.” said Cromer. “At its heart, the SKLZ brand represents the best aspects of sport. I can’t wait to connect it with the hearts and minds of athletes everywhere.”

Nolen is a former professional baseball player who spent 4 years with the Cubs organization. Nolen joins SKLZ from Innovetx, a company he founded to bring premium baseball gloves to market. In Nolen’s new role as baseball
category manager, he will be responsible for driving the baseball business for SKLZ.

“I am excited about the opportunity to be part of a brand made up of athletes creating products to help other athletes,” said Nolen. “Baseball has played a big part in where I am today and I look forward to giving back by creating products and programs that baseball players can trust to excel in their sport. That is something to be really excited about.”
