Sierra Designs, which recently overhauled its brand and product team, is transitioning to an independent sales force to better serve its specialty retailer base. During the transition, parent company American Rec will continue to serve Sierra Design dealers through its in-house sales team, which will continue to serve Kelty, Ultimate Direction and Slumberjack dealers.


The change is part of Sierra Design's committment to becoming the top specialty outdoor brand. Toward that goal, the brand overhauled its management and product teams in 2012 and launched a completely new product line and marketing program under the tag line ‘Better and Different’ for its Spring 2014 line. Sierra Designs views independent sales agencies as the key to ensuring their specialty retail partners get the all the service and support needed to successfully sell the new Sierra Designs line, said Michael Glavin, VP of Sierra Designs.

“We are very pleased with the Sierra Designs brand relaunch and want to make sure all the momentum we’ve generated continues through 2014 and beyond,” said Glavin. “That’s why we have made the decision to work with independent sales rep agencies. We feel this move will enable us to better serve our specialty retailers.”
