ShoeBuy announced that footwear industry executive Bob Mullaney has joined the company’s senior management team as chief operating officer and president.

Mullaney will report to Chief Executive Officer Mike Sorabella.

“The investments and improvements we have made over the past year have helped build a great site and brand experience for our customers,” said Sorabella. “Bob joins at the perfect time to lead this repositioning of ShoeBuy to help drive growth and increase market share within the developing and fragmented online footwear market. His energy, industry expertise and proven track record make him an ideal leader to capitalize on these opportunities.”

Earlier this year, ShoeBuy demonstrated its commitment to a customer-centric approach with the introduction of a new brand identity and the addition of a new Chief Technology Officer to help transform the company and enrich its customers’ shopping experience.  In this new role, Mullaney will bring together critical functions of the ShoeBuy business for maximized efficiencies and operational excellence, including merchandising, warehouse management, operations, and customer service departments. Mullaney will develop and enhance existing and new brand partnerships, improve and build new categories, and develop innovative ways to increase customer engagement. Mullaney looks forward to working with EVP of Merchandising, Trisha Sweeney to utilize an ideal combination of experiences that will maximize ShoeBuy’s business in the online space.

“As consumers increasingly shop online, it is a great time to join one of the first online shoe retailers to partner with great brands, offer new experiences and create new ways to engage with our customers,” said Mullaney. “I’m eager to partner with the ShoeBuy team to further realize the potential for the brand within the expanding and evolving footwear space.”

Mullaney brings more than two decades of retail and footwear expertise to ShoeBuy. Most recently, he served as President, Americas for Rockport, overseeing the wholesale and retail businesses where he led the turn-around of a decade long declining business. Mullaney was part of the executive team that facilitated the sale of the company from Adidas Group, owner of Reebok and Taylor-Made, to a new entity established by Boston-based investment firm, Berkshire Partners and New Balance.

Prior to joining Rockport, Mullaney held branded wholesale executive and general management positions at Brown Shoe Company (now Caleres Group), Vida Group and Stride Rite Corporation. Mullaney is an active Two Ten Footwear Foundation Member.

Mullaney holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Communications from Babson College and a Masters of Business Administration from Bentley College.

ShoeBuy is an operating business of IAC and is headquartered in Boston.
