Shock Doctor, Inc. has appointed Tony Armand as chief executive officer, effective May 10.  Armand, who was most recently CEO of Bravo Sports, will also serve on the Shock Doctor’s Board of Directors.

During his 10 years as President and CEO of the Santa Fe Springs, Calif.-based recreational and sporting goods company Bravo Sports, Armand grew licensed business through brands including Disney, Mattel and Nickelodeon, and drove significant revenue growth through acquisition, new product development, brand building and strong retail partnerships, according to a statement.

Before joining Bravo Sports in 1999, Armand served as COO and CFO of a high growth health care service business and prior to that was a consultant to consumer product businesses. Armand currently serves on the board of directors of Momentum Group, a leader in the commercial textile industry.

The company is in a great position to accelerate the expansion of its sports protection platform.” Norwest Equity Partners is a middle market private equity firm that acquired Shock Doctor in April 2008.

Marti Morfitt, a board director of Shock Doctor and CEO of Airborne, Inc., shared, “Tony’s experience in driving organic growth in the sporting goods industry and his successful track record as the CEO and leader of Bravo Sports make him a wonderful addition to the Shock Doctor management team.”

Norwest Equity Partners acquired Shock Doctor in April 2008. At the time, Steve Washburn was president and CEO of Shock Doctor.
