Cimatron, a developer of CAD/CAM solutions for tooling industry, announced its partnership with SHIMANO.
Shimano purchased Cimatron E for their offices in Japan and Singapore because of the software’s quick and efficient cutting times, and the strong pre- and post-sales support from Cimatron’s Tokyo-based distributor, Saeilo Japan. “We drastically reduced our toolpath creation time and standardized our processing quality,” comments Izumi Yamaoka, Group Leader at Shimano. “Cimatron E enabled us to automatically create original detailed NC operator reports, improve our efficiency in creating NC programs, and succeed in reducing lead-times in our mold production. This is what makes a reliable CAM system, he added.

Shimano engineers use Cimatron E milling molds, including bicycle parts and plastic parts for fishing tackles, in addition to direct milling for forging dies and electrodes, all with excellent results. “Toolpath creation now takes one third of the time,” says Yamaoka. “We used to have to modify 5-6 surface parts at once, but with Cimatron E, we do not require this process at all.”

“In keeping with our commitment to deliver quality software solutions, we are very excited to have Shimano as a customer,” says Zvika Naggan, President & CEO at Cimatron. “With our already strong customer base in Japan, we will continue to enhance our activities in the region to meet the needs of high-profile
customers like Shimano,” he added.
