Shimano has restored production of its bicycle components to full capacity, according to a report by Bloomberg.

The wire service quoted Keiji Kakutani, a senior executive vice president, as saying the Japanese company has already received enough orders from bicycle manufacturers to meet its first half sales and profit targets.

Kakutani told Bloomberg the Japanese sporting goods company expects bicycle components sales to grow 11% this year as manufacturers increase production.

Shimanos bicycle components sales fell 22.2% to $1.55 billion in 2009 as bicycle manufacturers slashed production to allow dealers worldwide to clear inventory.

Bicycle shipments to U.S. dealers fell 9% in 2009, while dollar sales fell a comparatively mild 4%, according to data release by the Bicycle Product Suppliers Association and reported by Bicycle Retailer and Industry News last month.
