On Thursday, Sept. 11, experts from SFIAs Corporate Partner Exponent and Legal Task Force member Crowell & Moring will address the latest in performance fabric testing and the legal risks to consider when developing advertising materials around such products. The webinar will provide guidance to brands with established product lines and to those who may be looking to introduce a new product into the market.

Apparel is available to consumers with an impressive array of performance functions, said Dr. Haskell Beckham, Senior Managing Scientist for Exponent and scheduled speaker.  From wicking to water-proof, confirming the nature and magnitude of such functions typically requires testing.  The results of such testing may then be advertised to consumers in the form of product claims. As a Corporate Partner, we are eager to share our knowledge of the topic with SFIA members.

Webinar agenda topics include:
•    How the performance in performance sportswear can be defined through testing
•    How test results or other studies can be used as bases for product claims (wicking, water-proof, compression, etc.)
•    Legal risks to consider in developing advertising materials and claims of performance
o    FTC & Other Agencies
o    False Advertising Litigation by Competitors & Consumers

The SFIA-hosted webinar is free to all members and $149 for non-members. For more information or to register, please visit: https://www.sfia.org/calendar/521.
