Applications are now being accepted for the 2014 Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) Future Industry Leaders Scholarship Program. This competitive, application based scholarship program will recognize five young professionals in the sports and fitness industry at the 2014 SFIA Industry Leaders Summit to be held September 16-17 at the Historic Drake Hotel in Chicago. Deadline for submission is Friday, June 20, 2014.
“It has always been part of our mission to promote industry vitality,” said VJ Mayor, SFIA’s Director of Communications and Research. “One of the best ways we can do that is by helping develop the industry’s future leaders. The Future Industry Leaders Scholarship Program provides our scholars with an opportunity to cultivate skills and build relationships that are essential to their personal leadership development process. We are proud to host a program that supports our commitment to supporting many of the talented future leaders of our industry.”
Scholarship recipients will receive complimentary registration to the 2014 SFIA Industry Leaders Summit in Chicago and will be eligible to attend any future SFIA Industry Leaders Summit. Applicants are required to be under 40 years-old and currently work for an SFIA Corporate member company. All applicants will be asked to provide their vision for the future of the sports & fitness industry and how they intend to contribute to that vision.
“The Future Industry Leaders Scholarship Program is for anyone who aspires to be an executive in the sports and fitness industry,” said inaugural scholarship recipient Isaiah Kacyvenski, Head of Sports & Fitness for MC10 Inc. “Being able to attend the SFIA Industry Leaders Summit through the program, afforded me the opportunity to learn about the complex challenges facing our industry. Just as important were the connections I was able to make at the event with sports and fitness industry thought leaders all in one room.”
Scholarship recipients will be acknowledged at a dinner ceremony on September 16, 2014 at the Drake Hotel. The 2013 SFIA Industry Leaders Summit sold with more than 200 of the most highly regarded leaders within the industry in attendance. This year's agenda will build on the 2013 Summit to help provide attendees with insights into the future of the industry. Sessions include insights into the Physical Inactivity Epidemic, Managing Geopolitical Risk, E-Commerce & Cyber Security and several featured Keynotes from Industry Leaders.
