The Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA), the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) moved its traditional Team Sports Rules Conference in Indianapolis, IN to a virtual platform on April 13-14, 2021.

Speakers from each organization will address the current high school and collegiate athletics market, including issues around athlete safety, sportsmanship, the impact of COVID-19 moving forward, sponsorships, and a State of the Team Sports Industry presentation from Tom Cove, president & CEO, SFIA.

Dr. David James, managing director, Labosport Ltd. and a visiting member of the International Sports Engineering Association (ISEA), will discuss technological change and development in sports, the quality of sports facilities, uniforms, and biometric tracing and equipment for athlete performance and safety.

Mike Oliver, executive director, National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE), will present updates on athletic equipment standards, and answer questions on how recent changes and standards affect kids and collegiate sports today.

The virtual conference will host individual sports presentations, led by NCAA and NFHS executives, providing a forum for governing bodies to express their views on where the industry is going and the impact new product standards have on the future of health and safety in sports. The breakout sessions will include discussions on current and upcoming changes and challenges in specific markets.
