Contour, a Seattle-based maker of hands-free video cameras has been ranked as one of the nation's 500 fastest growing companies by Inc. Magazine's Inc. 500.


Sales at the company rose from $424,616 to $7.0 million from 2006 to 2009, according to Inc. The 1,556% growth rate earned the company a rank of 183rd on the list, which is determined by three-year growth percentage among other requirements such as being U.S. based, privately held, for-profit and independent.


Originally conceived as part of a University of Washington undergraduate business plan competition in 2003, Contour now employs 40 people, is sold in over 45 countries, and has strategic partnerships with, Rockstar Energy Drinks, ESPN X Games, Ducati Spider Grips motorcycles and TGR films.

“Fast growth at any time is a big achievement; fast growth during the past few years is just short of miraculous,” said Inc. editor Jane Berentson. “The Inc. 500 consists of these just-short-of miraculous companies, the ones that through ingenuity and ambition have increased revenue, hired employees, and grown fast in difficult economic times.”
