Black Diamond Equipment has announced that effective July 1, 2004, Sea To Summit will become its official Australian distributor. Wishing to expand its presence to a greater number of selected Australian Retailers, this strategic business move will make available the whole of Black Diamond’s extensive line to climbers, skiers and walkers across the country.

Sea To Summit was named a Black Diamond headlamp distributor last year, and because of its success with the Brand, as well as its enthusiasm and commitment to the outdoors, the company quickly became an obvious choice to distribute Black Diamond’s entire line. The Paddy Pallin group, which has been Black Diamond Equipment’s exclusive Australian retailer since the mid-eighties, will continue to sell BD gear in its 14 retail stores, but as both Black Diamond and the Australian market have expanded and matured, a wider representation of the Brand is now essential.

Tim Macartney-Snape, Sea To Summit’s Director, anticipates a successful partnership between the two core companies. “Black Diamond is an iconic brand in the outdoor industry, it's a leader in innovation and celebrates the spirit of alpinism and its offshoots. I feel tremendous synergy between BD and Sea to Summit.”

Black Diamond’s entire line will be on display at the SOTA show in Canberra in May, and later in the year, Sea To Summit will introduce the Brand on a nationwide tour. With this, Sea To Summit anticipates a swift increase in Black Diamond’s presence in retail stores as well as at the crags, on the mountains and in the deserts of the wide brown land.
