Scott Sports SA signed a preliminary agreement to acquire Tecnica Group's Dolomite division.

Italian outdoor company Dolomite was first established as a mountaineering footwear brand in 1897. After acquiring the brand in 1998, Tecnica Group repositioned Dolomite as an Italian functional sportswear brand and succeeded in ensuring the brand’s constant growth. Dolomites revenues are expected to reach €18 million in 2015 with approximately 60 percent generated abroad. It sells its product to more than 1,500 customers.

The operation falls within Scott´s strategy of developing long-established brands with a strong international reputation, according to a statement. The Dolomite takeover is an investment in the brand’s great potential that also provides access to the deep well of know-how in Italy's Montebelluna region, which is home to many mountain sports brands.

“I’m very happy to carry through this operation, thanks to the help of Alberto and Giancarlo Zanatta who believed in Scott Sports and its ability to further develop the Dolomite brand worldwide while safeguarding the latter’s identity and origins,” said Scott Sports CEO Beat Zaugg. “Scott Sports rises to this challenge with great enthusiasm and we’re convinced we have all the conditions for success.”
