Schoeller Switzerland is opening a new office in Korea at a ceremony on October 10 in the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul. In an effort to increase the company’s support to the very important and fast growing Korean market, this new facility will serve as a marketing and sales office to further expand Schoeller collections and technologies into key Korean markets such as leisure wear, fashion, work safety and interior design. The Seoul showroom will provide an opportunity to maximize personal sales efforts, marketing services and training support to its already existing customers in mountaineering, golf and outdoor apparel. CEO of Schoeller Korea Inc. is Kyoo-Sik Cho. Mr. Cho has worked internationally in the textile and apparel business for over 24 years and graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Economics.

Hans-Jürgen Hübner, CEO of Schoeller Switzerland and member of the Board of Schoeller Korea Inc., expressed delight with the strategic expansion into Korea, proving the desirability of locating a major overseas office in one of the premier economic outdoor centers of the world. “We are pleased to have found our new CEO in the person of Kyoo-Sik Cho. We have been acquainted for years through many joint projects. With his competence, the outstanding network and the new infrastructure, the course is set for success.”

A strong new spirit surrounded the 300 attendees from the worlds of politics, business, industry and the media at the celebration amid a Swiss-Korean décor. Christian Mühlethaler, Swiss Ambassador in the Republic of Korea, reflected in his speech the important role the Swiss textile industry has had over centuries with innovative machineries or dying methods that have contributed to the origin of the world famous Swiss chemical and pharmaceutical industries. He was pleased to be a part of the inauguration of the Korean office for one of the most innovative Swiss textile companies recognized worldwide.

October 10 is considered an auspicious day on the Korean calendar. “This is certainly a good sign for the future and our challenging business plan,” said Mr. Kyoo-Sik Cho during his presentation, which included such innovations as the NanoSphere® textile finish, suitable for textiles used for clothing, shoes or home furnishings. Entertainment included Swiss folklore performed by the group “Edelweiss”, made up of Korean musicians and vocalists. The event concluded with a traditional cake cutting ceremony.
