SCARPA North America this week added a new position to oversee athletes and direct brand participation in events, and it hired Skiing Magazine veteran Kevin Luby to fill the post. For the last four years, Luby has worked in a number of editorial positions at both Skiing and Ski Magazines, including most recently as Skiings Senior Editor.

The new post in marketing is one of a number of hires and promotions at SCARPA North America over the past month. Along with hiring Luby as Athlete and Events Coordinator, SNA adds firepower in the Direct Sales Division with the hire of Alex Dierker, and additional bandwidth in the Warranty and Repair Division with the hire of Vanessa Logsdon. Internally, Danielle Snyder was promoted to a new role as Sales Service Representative for the U.S. east of the Rockies and Canada, and Emily Voss was promoted to Pro and Direct Sales Coordinator.

SCARPA North America is growing, and we needed this new role with athlete and event programs not just oversee them, but to expand them and make them better, said Samantha Killgore, marketing manager for SCARPA North America. And Luby is the perfect guy for the job. He’s detail oriented, organized, hard-working and, most importantly, he has a keen eye for strategy and recognizing how to make the most of unique opportunities.

Along with his editorial experience at Skiing, Luby worked with a variety of athletes and managed events at the magazine, and he brings an extensive knowledge of the industry, outdoor products, and a background with SCARPA.

Ive been a believer in and active user of SCARPA gear since I purchased a pair of T2s, my first tele boot, at a ski swap in North Idaho when I was a senior in high school, Luby said. Those boots got me into the backcountry for the first time, and they certainly contributed to my enthusiasm for the outdoors and the outdoor industry.

In customer service, Voss will oversee direct sales, working with Dierker and others internally. Prior to that job, Voss has worked in several other customer service roles at SCARPA in recent years. Before that, she worked at REI, as a manager for a climbing gym, and at Backwoods Adventures. Dierker brings to SCARPA several years of outdoor retail experience, including working at Jackson Hole Sports in Teton Village, WY, and working as a fly-fishing and mountain-bike guide in Jackson Hole.

Snyder, who previously worked in direct sales with SCARPA, transitions that experience to the Sales Service division. Prior to working with SCARPA, she worked at Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder.

Joining SCARPA as a Warranty and Repair Representative, Logsdon brings a variety of outdoor retail and industry experience, including working in retail sales and warranty with Wilderness Sports in Dillon, CO, and working as a rafting guide, horse trainer, and in ski tuning and repair.

Founded in 1938 in Italy, SCARPA builds performance footwear for climbing, hiking, skiing, mountaineering, trail running and other outdoor pursuits from its headquarters in Asolo, Italy. SCARPA has been owned and operated by the Parisotto family since 1956. In 2005, SCARPA opened its North American headquarters in Boulder, CO, staffed and directed by veterans of the North American outdoor industry, to oversee sales, marketing and distribution in the U.S., Canada and South America.
