Sport Brands International, the new holding company that recently completed the purchase of Fila and all of its subsidiaries worldwide, announced today that it has formed a multi-year strategic partnership with Watford-based Proline in the United Kingdom.

In their new role, Proline International Limited will assume sales and operations responsibilities for the Fila brand in the UK and will assist in product design, development and sourcing to meet domestic market needs. Proline was selected as a partner by Fila for their ability to customize product and increase the brand's speed to market.

Paul Groom, a veteran of the footwear and apparel industry in the UK, will represent Proline and Fila UK as Commercial Director.

Jon Epstein, CEO of Sport Brands International confirmed that Fila is poised for significant growth in the UK through its partnership with Proline. “Considering their knowledge of the market, their retail relationships and experienced management team, Proline will make Fila a strong resource and a highly viable brand in the UK”, said Mr. Epstein.

Proline is owned by the Batra Group, a diversified industrial company employing over 57,000 people worldwide. Batra currently serves as the Fila licensee in India and a European apparel supply source. The Fila strategic partnership with Proline will take affect September 1, 2003.
