Salt Life, which is owed by Delta Apparel, has added Timmy Curran to its Salt Life team ambassador roster. Professional surfer and musician, Curran has been a professional surfer for most of his life and has also toured with The Foo Fighters, Switchfoot and Donavon Frankenreiter. His first official outing as a Salt Life Team Ambassador will be the upcoming team trip to Mexico later this month.

A southern California native, Timmy Curran has been living the Salt Life since he was five years old when his father would shuttle him an hour from his hometown of Temecula, CA to the beach so he could surf. At age eleven, he received his first sponsorship with McCrystal Surfboards and began competing as a professional surfer at age sixteen.

Over the past 15 years, Curran has competed on and off the World Tour Of Surfing. He has won numerous events and is considered to be one of the pioneers of surfing's “Aerial Revolution” of the late 1990s.  He is also famous for creating a new maneuver called the Alley-oop, and also pulled the first “Upside down Flip” in Hawaii at Rocky Point.

Salt Life’s team manager Larry Laska emphasized that the Salt Life motto of “living salty” can happen in and out of the water and Timmy Curran’s impressive resume in and out of the water helps to represent the Salt Life name well.

Aside from his surfing credentials, Timmy Curran is also a professional musician. In 2004 Tim opened for the Foo Fighters on their west coast acoustic tour, including three shows at the Sydney Opera House. In 2006 Curran had a music video for his song “Blue Eyes” on VH1 for six weeks. Currently, Curran plans to release a new project on his independent label, Citsuca Music, later this year.

“I have spent most of my life in and around the ocean surfing, touring music and fishing. I am very thankful to have been asked to be an ambassador for Salt Life! I look forward to many exciting trips in the future and being able to continue the lifestyle that I have been very blessed to have!”

Rick DeVoe, Curran’s manager, is not foreign to the Salt Life name as his son, Ryder DeVoe is also a Salt Life Team Ambassador. DeVoe can attest to his natural talent and hard work ethic whether it is surfing, hunting, fishing or up on stage, captivating music lovers nationwide.

“I have been working with Timmy Curran since he was 16 years old. Throughout the years I have always been amazed at his natural talent to not only push the sport of surfing to new levels but to do it with such amazing style. Timmy has all the bases covered whether he is at Pipe or busting big airs, this guy will always be one of the stand outs no matter what spot he paddles out at. I feel Timmy will be a great ambassador for Salt Life as both of their passions are so strong for their love of the Ocean and outdoors.”
