Salt Lake Running Company (SLRC) announced that Cade Perry will be its new CEO, effective June 1, succeeding his father, Guy Perry.
The move comes as Cade Perry in January 2026 became a minority partner. Eli White will continue in his current position as COO and member of the SLRC Executive Strategy Team.
Guy Perry has served as the CEO since 1995 and will remain, along with Debbie Perry, members of the board and ownership group, to provide guidance to the strategy team at SLRC. Guy and Debbie will also relocate to Fort Walton Beach, FL to begin a volunteer Military Relations service mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, assigned to Eglin Air Force Base for a period of 12 months beginning May 18, 2026.
“Working in the run specialty business over the past 30 years has been an extremely rewarding experience,” said Guy Perry. “It is a privilege to serve and inspire movement in our community. The run specialty channel is full of amazing people who are motivated by an intrinsic purpose that creates tangible value in the world.”
He added, “I am very excited to see the next generation of leaders rise to the occasion. It’s happening both internally, with Cade and his SLRC teammates, and across the country in other run shops. Things in the run industry have changed through the years where running has emerged into the mainstream of our society. The “Next Gen” has already embraced those changes and are excited by the future possibilities in our channel”, said Guy when asked about turning over the reins to the younger generation.”
Cade Perry started as a cashier at SLRC after high school and then worked as a sales associate during the summer and holidays during college. During his time at Brigham Young University (BYU), he was a member of the nationally ranked Men’s Cross Country Team. After graduating in May of 2020, Cade Perry became the footwear buyer for SLRC and in 2021 was accepted into the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah and received an MBA in 2023. Since then, he has been the buying department manager and mostly recently, CFO for SLRC.
Cade Perry said, “In 31 years of business, SLRC has established a strong reputation in the communities we serve and within the exceptional industry we are proud to be part of. Guided by the principles and core values shaped through decades of experience, we remain committed to meeting our customers where they are and delivering retail hospitality that ranks among the very best.
“Thank you to Guy and Debbie for building SLRC with vision and dedication. Their leadership has created a strong foundation that now allows the next generation of SLRC and Run Specialty to step up and lead the company into its next chapter.”
SLRC has four retail locations along the Wasatch Front in the north-central part of Utah.
