After announcing a new distribution strategy in North America several weeks ago, Rottefella AS hired Salt Lake City-based industry veteran Scott Duer as sales manager for North America.

Duer will act as a face for the Norway-based brand in the U.S. and Canada, said Torbjørn Ragg, marketing and sales manager for Rottefella. Rottefella makes the NNN binding line for cross-country skiing, a wide range of telemark bindings, including the NTN system, as well as the Naxo alpine-touring binding.

Duer will act as a liaison with Rottefella headquarters on North American issues, work with key retailers, oversee marketing in North America, and support the brand at trade shows and on-snow demos. He will also work closely with Rottefella’s U.S. distributors, Alpina Sports, Garmont North America, SCARPA North America, Erik Sports and Madshus, as well as with with Rossignol and Fischer, for whom Rottefella makes branded NNN products.

“Rottefella has sold its products for decades in North America through distributors, but we have really needed someone on the ground who can act as a liaison between us and our partners in North America, and Scott’s perfect for that role,” said Ragg.

Duer has worked in the outdoor and ski industries for more than 20 years. Most recently, he was the men’s softgoods merchandise divison manager for Park City-based e-tailer Backcountry.com. Before that, he was a sales representative and partner in the Rockies with Granite Marketing, which represented Alpina Sports, Sierra Designs, Gregory Packs and Horny Toad, among other brands. Duer also worked for many years as director of sales and marketing for Voile, and in late 80s and early 90s worked in outdoor specialty retail.
