Roots reported that it has been working on in-store refreshes across Canada this year. Highlights include the opening of its newest flagship in Vancouver (lead image) and the opening of its first pilot concept store in Toronto.
“The modern interpretation of the iconic Roots cabin aesthetic integrates technology, exclusive product offerings and community-driven experiences, making its locations a distinct destination for locals and visitors alike,” the company stated in a media release.
“Our stores are more than destinations to shop, they are environments that bring our brand purpose to life,” said Meghan Roach, president & CEO of the Roots Corporation. “Each space reflects our deep connection to nature, community, and craftsmanship. With these new and refreshed locations, we are inviting customers to rediscover the Roots brand.”
Vancouver Store
The new Roots store on Robson Street in Vancouver “builds on the brand’s 30-year legacy in the neighborhood.” The refreshed space “reflects deep community roots while introducing a refreshed retail experience that is contemporary and distinctly local.” The company said the store blends “modern Roots essentials, premium leathers and General Store goods.”
Signature design elements include a preserved moss wall and a custom moss beaver sculpture. These pay tribute to the Roots logo and Canada’s natural landscapes, the company noted. A lightbox ceiling installation features a commissioned image of Stanley Park. Digital features, such as holographic screens, capture the essence of Vancouver’s outdoor culture and adventurous spirit.
Unique to the store is the Roots Vancouver Collection, an exclusive, curated selection for the city.
Toronto
Roots Outpost, the retailer’s new pilot concept store, opened on Yonge Street in Toronto’s Rosedale neighborhood. The nostalgic space “celebrates 52 years of Roots quality and craftsmanship through meaningful storytelling, thoughtful design and unique product offerings,” said the company.
The store’s decor, featuring black-and-white archival photos, heritage objects, and contemporary Canadian art, blends with warm wood finishes, “evoking a personal and authentic Roots experience.”
“Yonge Street itself is no stranger to Roots,” the company stated. “Roots opened its first store on August 15, 1973, at 1052 Yonge Street. The return to the neighborhood marks a meaningful continuation of the brand’s story.”
The concept store features an assortment of local brands, select Roots apparel, including vintage pieces, and serves as a community engagement destination.
Ongoing Store Refreshes
The retailer has continued to enhance its stores across Canada, including Mont-Tremblant (image below), which reopened on July 18, and Vaughan Mills, which relaunched on April 17. Roots noted that each store “reflects the brand’s commitment to heritage while offering a modern retail experience.”
