Roka Sports Inc., the Austin, TX-based performance multisport company, has announced a partnership with P1440, a new event series started by five-time Olympian Kerri Walsh Jennings.

P1440 aims to change the game of beach volleyball, showcasing the best men’s and women’s players in the world alongside healthy living opportunities for spectators like yoga and circuit training as well as chart-topping music from artists including Foster the People, Grouplove, Daya, Marian Hill and Magic Giant. Roka is the official competition and lifestyle sunglass partner of this groundbreaking series, which kicks off this weekend in San Jose, CA, on Sept. 28 – 30.

“There are 1440 minutes in a day. That’s all we get. We want to live all of those minutes with purpose, passion and play. Our intention is for everyone who attends a P1440 event to take the mission, purpose and lifestyle beyond the weekend,” said Walsh Jennings. “That’s why it’s so important for us to have like-minded partners who share in that mission of supporting healthy, active lifestyles. We’re thrilled to have Roka on board as we get started with this series that will change the game of beach volleyball.”

Roka is supporting the series and equipping the athletes of P1440 with the most advanced eyewear on the market. With the partnership, Roka will be onsite at all four P1440 events in 2018, including stops in San Jose, Las Vegas, San Diego and Huntington Beach and engaging with the community on the P1440 digital platform. Roka will retail eyewear and lifestyle products and run a number of promotions for athletes and spectators.

“P1440 is challenging the status quo when it comes to what beach volleyball can be and represent. That’s what makes it the perfect partnership for Roka,” said Roka CEO and co-founder Rob Canales. “We seek to redefine the standard in every product we make, and we share Kerri’s mission of promoting healthy living to athletes and fans from every sport.”

“Kerri, Rob and I were student-athletes at Stanford during a time when the status quo was truly being disrupted. There was something special in the air that inspired us all. Since that time, she has changed the game of beach volleyball, and this is an incredible new chapter in that story,” said Roka co-founder Kurt Spenser. “Roka shares a mission with P1440 to bring the knowledge, mindset and game-changing innovation from the world’s best to a new generation–hungry for more meaningful, healthy and purpose-built experiences.”

Through this partnership, Roka will be supporting the next generation of beach volleyball athletes and the growing, active-lifestyle community.

To support professional athletes, each of the first four P1440 events in 2018 will have a prize purse of percent 300,000, totaling percent 1.2 million, an unprecedented amount for the sport’s newest series. The San Jose Invitational kicks off this weekend at San Jose’s Avaya Stadium grounds. In addition to a health and wellness village for spectators and fans, musical acts Foster the People, GroupLove, Daya, Marian Hill and Magic Giant will be performing.
