Road Runner Sports will celebrate the grand opening of its 27th store opening nationwide and our second store in Illinois April 27 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at its new North Shore-area locale in the Edens Plaza.

The VIP Family exclusive, invite-only event will be sponsored by the sports company Mizuno and followed by the public grand opening event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The new store totals more than 5,000-square feet  and is stocked with the industry's best running and walking shoes, apparel and gear, including treadmills and a unique indoor race track where customers can test that perfect fit. The store will feature the retailer's exclusive interactive foot and gait analysis process: “Shoe Dog-Road Runner Sports,” which Fit Experts use to guide customers through four speedy steps to find your guaranteed perfect fit in just 12 minutes.

“This is the most advanced shoe-fitting program out there. The Shoe Dog process makes it incredibly easy and fun to find your perfect-fitting shoe,” said Mike Gotfredson, Road Runner Sports owner and Chief Runner. “Nobody else has a process that comes close to being as fun or powerful in creating a WOW! experience for runners and walkers.”

Based in San Diego, Calif., Road Runner Sports began in 1983 as a catalog, direct mail company in Gotfredson's garage. Despite such modest beginnings, Road Runner Sports has become one of the world's largest running and walking stores, employing more than 600 employees across the U.S.

The new Road Runner Sports Wilmette store is located at Edens Plaza, 3232 Lake Ave., Wilmette, Ill. 60091.
