River Sports Outfitters, a Knoxville, TN, specialty outdoor retailer, has launched a new social networking website – outdoorknoxville.com – aimed at providing an online meeting place for outdoor enthusiasts in and around Knoxville.

OutdoorKnoxville.com is expected to be the social hub for people who love to spend time outdoors and who enjoy activities such as hiking, climbing, kayaking, canoeing, trail running, bicycling, and more. People in the local community, as well as visitors to the area, can join the site and search local outdoor events, schedule impromptu events and invite site members to join, create groups, upload photos of events and post information about trails, general hiking, climbing or paddling tips, gear, etc. on the site.

At the core of the site is a community calendar which highlights both sponsored and spur-of-the-moment events. River Sports Outfitters, founder and owner of OutdoorKnoxville.com, has been using the site to promote all of its in-store and community wide activities for the past two months. Beginning today, however, the site design and functionality has been expanded to include something for everyone in the outdoor community.

OutdoorKnoxville.com, which was designed and developed by local businessesBounce10 and Bluegill Creative, will allow group leaders to create a basic group page and invite a specific member list to join the group. Group members can post events to the community calendar, but will also be able to create private events that are specific to their group only.
