RE:Public, the non-profit news outlet that covers U.S. public lands initiatives, announced the hires of Elizabeth Hightower Allen as editorial director and Julianna Abuzzahab as social media manager. They join founder Christopher Keyes and a board of directors that includes the outdoor industry, conservation efforts and other national media
Allen, shown above right, spent over 20 years as a features editor for Outside Magazine, covering the environment and public lands and writing the Code Green column for the company. She is the editor of the book First and Wildest: The Gila Wilderness at 100. As founder of Hightower Creative, she edits and coaches writers on book projects and magazine work. She also serves on the Board of Advisors for Writers on the Range.
Abuzzahab, left, is a recent graduate of Columbia School of Journalism. She has focused her career on science and environmental writing. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Marquette University, where she held various internship roles at the O’Brien Fellowship in Public Service Journalism, The Kenosha News, and Milwaukee Magazine.
