REI has appointed David Presley to the position of vice president of Distribution and Logistics. Presley, who comes to REI with 20 years' experience in supply chain management, will provide leadership to the outdoor retailer's warehousing, order processing and product distribution operations to support the inventory needs of REI's online and retail businesses. In addition, Presley will oversee operation of REI's 500,000 square-foot distribution center facility in Sumner, Wash. In addition to distribution, the facility employs more than 350 REI warehouse, direct sales contact center and customer service staff.

Prior to joining REI, Presley led freight forwarding and logistics efforts at American Presidents Line, where he served as vice president of operations, and at FedEx Corporation where he served as managing director. His most recent position was with the global air cargo division of Expeditors International, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of new products.

Presley, 45, is a member of the Warehousing Education Council, as well as the Council of Logistics Management, for which he previously served as president of the organization's Memphis chapter.

Presley graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 1981 with a degree in industrial technology/manufacturing engineering. He currently resides with his wife Fran in Maple Valley, Wash., and in his spare time enjoys camping, golf, hiking and skiing.
