Over the past several years, Reef has brought a number of talented surfers still performing at top levels into the family as part of the Reef sales force. Most recently, Hawaiian former Association of Surfing Professionals World Tour surfer Roy Powers has come onboard as sales rep for the Oahu territory.

“I have been rocking Reef sandals as far back as I can remember,” says Powers, a native of Kauai. “Reef has been a major force in and out of the water for a long time. It’s an honor to join such a legendary team and be a part of the future growth of an iconic brand.”

Powers, 33, cut his teeth at Pine Trees in Kauai with Andy and Bruce Irons. In 2001 he won the O’Neill Coldwater Classic in Santa Cruz, California. Then in 2007, he capped a solid year on the ASP’s World Qualifying Series with a win at the Reef Hawaiian Pro, a 6-star Prime event and the first jewel of the Van’s Triple Crown. That win qualified him for the world tour. Powers surfed professionally for 13 years, six of which were at the most elite level of the sport.

Powers joins a notable group of Reef Ambassadors, charging surfers who are integral parts of the Sales team with Southern California shredder Mike Losness, and Northern California’s big wave charger, Shawn Dollar.

“Roy had a 17 year career as a professional surfer and is very excited to get started on the business side of his new career and represent Reef in Hawaii along with Maui's based Reef rep Melissa Nickens,” says Greg Osthus, director of sales, independents.
